GRENADA

General: Governed by the 1974 Constitution and the Grenada Citizenship Act.

• By Birth: A child born in Grenada on/after February 6, 1974 is a citizen regardless of parents' nationality, except children of certain diplomatic personnel (and children of unknown parents found in Grenada are also granted citizenship).

• By Descent: A person born abroad on/after February 6, 1974, with at least one Grenadian parent, is entitled to citizenship by descent; formal registration is used to confirm this status.

• By Registration: Available to (a) a foreign spouse who marries a Grenadian citizen; (b) minors legally adopted by a Grenadian citizen; (c) certain historic pre-independence categories (persons who were UK & Colonies citizens with Grenada ties, and spouses married before Feb 6, 1974).

• By Naturalization: Requires roughly 6–7 years of residence — commonly cited as 7 years for applicants from non-Caribbean countries or 4 years for applicants from Caribbean countries, plus the 12 months immediately preceding application, good character, and intent to reside. A Citizenship by Investment Programme (from ~US$235,000 donation, or ~US$270,000+ real estate) provides an accelerated route with no residency requirement.

• Dual Citizenship: Fully recognized; no renunciation required for any route, including CBI.

• Loss of Citizenship – Voluntary: Renunciation permitted through formal application to the Department of Home Affairs.

• Loss of Citizenship – Involuntary: Citizenship (particularly naturalized/registered, including CBI) can be revoked in exceptional cases — fraud or misrepresentation in the application, or actions prejudicial to public safety, order, or the security of Grenada.

• Birth certificate of the Grenadian parent(s) establishing the parental bloodline claim.

• Parental marriage certificates (if applicable).

• Certified passport photos and a clean state or federal background check.
